Education of Products and dermalogica and Jan Marini!

My favorite skin care brands that I’ve used (or still use) personally are typically ones that I used professionally in the past. This is usually because I was thoroughly trained via classes and seminars put on by the brands themselves, attended aesthetic conferences with workshops, or simply taught by the brand or cosmeceutical or pharmaceutical rep within the office or spa.

When you’re professionally trained you understand how and why each product works whether by understanding the ingredients used, the science which makes it work (bio-availability and what part of the skin and underlying cells its affecting and why that is), indications for usage and what the expected outcome should be, as well as proper application technique (absorbability, mechanical means, steps, etc.).

When I think of the ultimate example of a brand that trains exceptionally well, two skin care companies come to mind. Dermalogica and Jan Marini! Both lines are phenomenally effective and results oriented, easy to use, indication specific and extremely professional. They are constantly evolving and are the leaders in cutting edge science in relation to skincare.

You can find both at many professional day and medical spas as well as many dermatology offices. I buy both my Dermalogica and my Jan Marini products at www.spalook.com because that’s much more convenient for me and they are a lot more competively priced.

You will never find me out of stock of my two favorite dermalogica and Jan Marini products as they are crucial to my skin care regimen and to my looks! LOL I always have a back up of each.

dermalogica AGE smart power rich is an amazing pharmaceutical strength treatment that moisturizes brilliantly, reverses the signs of aging, softens, firms and tones and stimulates cellular turnover and renewal. It’s pricey, but more than worth it. This is probably my pick for the best skincare product on the market.

Next is my Jan Marini C-ESTA Facial Mask. The effects are instant and absolutely amazing. I always use it before important occasions or when I want to look my ultimate best. It is seriously the closest thing to an instant facelift I’ve ever used. I can’t even begin to tell you how much you will love this mask!

More Big Bucks Beauty Savings with iS Clinical and Kinerase!

More great deals! The other day I wrote about great inexpensive products that are comparable to expensive ones. Then once I got started on it I realized how many I wanted to share with you and knew it would take more than one article. So today I’m excited about sharing a few more!

SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening System is an amazing regimen for correcting and lightening up sun-damaged skin. It’s a five product regimen that not only corrects but also protects. It costs $295 but is a $392 value. If you can spend three hundred dollars you’ll absolutely love this system. However, if you can’t there are definitely some great alternatives for less.

Check out:

Kinerase Photofacial Sun Damage Reversal Kit $100 ($143 value!)

Part One!

One of the main reasons I consider myself an expert in skincare is because I always want to know the “x” factor. I want to know why products work. And simply put the “x” factor is the active ingredient(s) within the product themselves.

Think of back in the day when women simply lathered a thick coating of cold cream on their face. It does indeed make your face feel softer and more hydrated but could it possibly repair or nourish? Not likely. The only way in my opinion to facilitate a physiological action would be to shrink the molecules of the active ingredients or add a delivery system to get those ingredients to the deeper cells in the skin. This is where collagen production takes place. Additionally, the superficial layers must be exfoliated and again ingredients play a key role in that action as well.

I will be doing a whole series on ingredients over the next few days or however long it takes to convey the importance of these complex pieces of the skincare and beauty regimen puzzle.

Today I’d just like you to take a look at the many verbs in the word “ingredients” below. These verbs are potentially what you can reasonably expect when you choose products with the correct ingredients for your specific indications and needs.

Improves and illuminates
Nourishes
Gives a lift and protects
Repairs, refines, relieves, reveals and resurfaces
Exfoliates, enhances and evens out color
Detoxifies and diminishes
Invigorates and increases circulation
Enhances and encourages
Nurses redness, blemishes and other skin conditions
Tightens and tones
Softens, stimulates and strengthens

Next time…we’re going to take a look at my favorite skincare ingredients!

skyn ICELAND for Stressed out and Weathered Skin!

My sister and her best friend live up at Lake Tahoe. It’s gorgeous up there obviously and a great place to live…however, it seems to wreak havoc on your skin. It’s cold, dry, and very high in elevation which stresses the skin in a number of ways. Two that I recognized right off the bat when assessing their skin was oxygen deprivation and extensive damage from the sun’s rays. I noticed it early on when we were all in our thirties and I would think to myself…wow…those of us who live in Southern California (where it’s all about fun in the sun!) looked much less weathered and aged than my friends and family who lived in a colder, higher, dryer climate. And beyond my sister’s physical location of being bombarded with free radical damage or external stressors to the skin; they also have both suffered major stress internally. One of them suffered a major financial blow due to the unfortunate timing of purchasing a beautiful Lake Tahoe home. The other under the extreme stress resulting from a recent divorce. Both leading to too much physiological (or internal) stressors to the skin.

I myself always hated how my skin felt when I’d go up there to visit. And obviously it doesn’t have to be there…it can be any cold dry climate to make our skin feel like it’s gonna crack!

So today I thought I’d share with you the skincare recommendation that I gave Linda and Nicole. Their birthdays are just two days apart so I got them each a Skyn Iceland regimen and just waited patiently for their phone calls to hear how they liked it. I told them that it was indeed a birthday present…but the condition (which normally I’m aware birthday presents should be unconditional...lol) was to call me within a month to let me know their results and their thoughts on the brand and individual products.
They kept their end of the deal and called me right at about 4 weeks in. Not only did they call me they Skype’d me and I got to see them on my computer and I was so thrilled with their results…Needless to say they were too!

Here are some links to the products I bought them and the brand itself.

skyn ICELAND brand

skyn ICELAND Glacial Facial Wash

skyn ICELAND Arctic Brightening Serum

and they had to buy the eye product below on their own (and they were happy to)!
Skyn ICELAND The Eye Clinic

The Miracle of Juara Skincare Banana Avocado Moisture Mask and Kinerase Pro Therapy!

This Sunday (the day after the Fourth of July) I was laying in bed with the worst headache and felt just awful. I even looked worse than I felt! To be honest, it was overindulgence of food and drink (well more accurately just the drink part). And to make it even worse it was a mixture of red wine with a liqueur type drink and I was drinking that headache inducing drink all day long out in the hot sun at the beach. To add to that mistake I drank very little water. I thought I had brought plenty of water bottles along but because I wanted to make sure all the kids and guests had plenty of water I just didn’t have enough for myself.

Needless to say, when I looked in the mirror on this proverbial dreaded morning after. I looked like a dried up prune with swollen eyes. I started downing a lot of water to rehydrate myself and had to think of a plan for much more help. My skin was dull and dehydrated. I remembered I had recently ordered the Juara Skincare Banana Avocado Moisture Mask and so I headed straight for the bathroom and coated on the luxury goop. I left it on for about ten or fifteen minutes and jumped in the shower. I removed it thoroughly with a wash cloth (I almost always use a wash cloth to remove cleanser, masks, anything really) because I like the cleaner feeling along with the little bit of extra exfoliation I get with the cloth.

Of course I dried off, put my wet hair up in a towel and looked in the mirror and oh man what a transformation! I couldn’t wait to use one of my favorite serums to further my success so I went with Kinerase Pro Therapy Advanced Repair Serum and voila I was plumping up and hydrating my skin beautifully, but just to be on the safe side of added hydration I opted for my Kinerase Pro Therapy Ultra Rich Night Repair instead of using my day cream. Oh but I can’t forget to tell you about what I did for my eyes first. It was incredible. First I simply took a bag of frozen peas out of the fridge and placed it on my eyes and the puffiness disappeared nicely. Then I used another Kinerase product afterward. It’s called Pro Therapy Ultra Rich Eye Repair. It’s kind of funny, because even though I’ve always liked Kinerase products and was well aware it’s a brilliant and effective line I was still not absolutely blown away until I got my hands on their Pro Therapy line. It’s like Kinerase squared or something. Exponential results for me!

A great way to try a few of these products is to buy the Kinerase Pro Therapy Ultra Repair Kit. You get ProTherapy Advanced Repair Serum, Pro Therapy Ultra Rich Day Repair and Pro Therapy Ultra Rich Eye Repair. The sizes are smaller than the full sizes obviously, but still a nice quantity of each and all for 125 bucks and that’s less than a couple of the full sized products are individually.

If you ever want to be completely transformed the morning after a hard day and night…head straight for Juara Skincare Banana Avocado Moisture Mask and the Kinerase Pro Therapy line. I promise, you will be absolutely stunned and thrilled by the amazing results.
