Healthy Summer Snacks – What to Pack for a Day at the Beach
We often remember to bring our sunscreen to the beach to protect ourselves and our family from the harmful rays of the harsh summer sun, but we oftentimes forget to bring healthy snacks. So what does our family do the second they open up the ice chest and the bags of food? They head straight for soda and chips. However, with the ideas we’ve placed below you’ll now not only enjoy your day at the beach but also be assured that your whole family will be well-nourished and well hydrated.
First and foremost…don’t forget bottled water. And I’m talking a whole lot of it!
For toddlers try Organic Freeze-Dried Yogurt & Fruit Snacks. This yummy snack will keep your toddlers happy and ready to have fun spending the majority of their day playing with their sand toys instead of crying and feeling non-satiated. These delicious Organic Freeze-Dried Yogurt & Fruit Snacks are made with real yogurt and good tasting healthy fruit! They are gluten free, are fortified with calcium and vitamin D and also contain pre and probiotics for their precious digestive health.
Next if you’re up to it, before you head for the beach another great idea is to bake some healthy muffins to take along; as well as whip a pitcher of protein shakes that everyone will absolutely love!
Try the amazing Blackberry Lemon and Thyme Muffins recipe on Epicurious.com. These are the perfect summer time muffins and can be made a day ahead of time.
My favorite smoothie is made with my favorite protein shake product called Fruitein. I simply fill the blender up with about 8oz OJ, a few ounces of pineapple coconut juice, add a banana, throw in some frozen fruit (mixed berries) and the delicious and healthy Fruitien powder as directed. You can add ice, but I’ve found that the frozen berries work brilliantly for ice substitution. Then package up your bottle of smoothie and place in a cold ice chest…it’s sure to delight everyone and is packed full of healthy goodness to sustain them brilliantly throughout the day.
Lastly, I’ve got to tell you about one more thing I always take with me to the sand or any picnic or outing for that matter. I always have them stocked at home for every form of entertainment I find myself facing. Blue Diamond Bold Almonds, Wasabi & Soy Sauce are a favorite of my whole family. Even my 6 year old grandson can’t get enough of them. They’re typically priced around 9 bucks but Drugstore.com has them on sale now for only $6.99. And while you’re ordering them take a look at all those five star ratings and reviews about them!
Now get yourself ready for your fun and healthy and nutritious day!
